Hades is the realm of the dead in Greek mythology. It is also the name of the Greek god who holds sway over that realm. The dead were buried with two pennies on their eyes so that they could pay Charon the boat man (portrayed as a skeletal figure) who would ferry the deceased down the river Styx to the realm of the dead, Hades.
Elysium
In Greek mythology, the dead were said to go to Hades (the Underworld), where they were judged based on their lives. If they had lived exceptionally good lives, they would go to Elyssium. If there lives had been average, they would join the millions of souls in the Fields of Asphodel. And if they had lived wickedly, they would be sent to the Fields of Punishment.
*If somebody attained Elyssium, they could choose to be reborn. If they reached Elyssium three times, they could go to the Isles of the Blest, the most revered place in Hades.
