Vitamin K is a group of fat soluble vitamins split into two main subdivisions.
Vitamin K1This is probably best known for its important role in blood coagulation. A deficiency of vitamin K1 means that any open wound would take longer to for the blood to clot and start the healing process. Sufferers from heart problems who have been put on blood thinning medication such as warfarin to stop or slow down the formation of blood clots leading to strokes or clots on the lungs should avoid foods rich in Vitamin K1.Vitamin K is responsible for blood clotting. Or is it responsible for clotting blood? Whatever way you want to say it, it's vitamin K. :)

Vitamin K is the essential vitamin necessary for blood clotting.
Vitamin K is converted to active vitamin K in the body which helps to activate clotting factors in the liver. Coumadin (warfarin) prevents the body from activating vitamin K, therefore the clotting factors are never activated and your blood becomes thinner or more difficult to clot. When you eat vitamin K rich foods (green leafy vegitables, etc), the vitamin K competes with the Coumadin and can neutralize its effect.
Vitamin K is needed for proper clotting of the blood
Vitamin K is commonly called the 'Blood-Clotting' vitamin.
