The solar energy that reaches the Earth is called insolation.

Of the incoming solar radiation 16% is absorbed by the earth's atmosphere, 3%is absorbed by clouds and 51%is absorbed by the earth's surface, making a total of 70%.

Both, and the Earth also radiates energy back into space.

Of the sunlight that hits the Earth, about 30% is reflected back into space by clouds, snow, or water. (Light that hits the Earth coming close to "straight down" is generally absorbed by water, but some of the light striking the water at an angle is reflected.) Of the light that is absorbed, a lot of it is used in a chemical process in plants called "photosynthesis". The solar energy helps the plants to grow, and energy is stored in the plants. When we eat the plants or burn the wood, we're releasing the solar energy stored within the plants.

Much of the Earth's energy is radiated back into space, and it is this balance between energy absorbed and energy radiated away that keeps the Earth at its current temperature.

Yes.

Some is absorbed ... that's how the earth is warmed.

Some is reflected ... that's how you can the earth if you're on the moon.

Where does the energy from the sun that is not used go to?

Most radiant energy is absorbed by Earth. The rest is reflected and bounces back and forth between Earth's surface and the clouds until absorbed.
