Go to your parts store and ask for the correct Ford fan clutch wrench tool for your model. ProTools, perhaps among others, makes an inexpensive set of wrenches out of heavy stamped steel. One fits the fan clutch and the other fits completely around the four bolt heads on the pulley to keep that from turning. Pay attention to which way the fan clutch threads onto the water pump: on 4.0L it is RIGHT-HAND threads, whereas on the 3.0L it was LEFT-HAND threads as I recall. Usually, this is indicated on the top of the fan shroud. Simply loosen and unscrew the fan clutch from the water pump shaft. It is a good idea to loosen the shroud first, and insert a piece of cardboard between the fan and the radiator to protect that from dings.
