Tigo is a brand of the Paraguay Telecom Operator Telecel, part of Millicom International Cellular. It was launched in 2002 and is a wordplay on the spanish "Contigo", which means "together".

So, "estamos contigo" means "we are together" while at the same time meaning "We are with Tigo".

Since its inception in Paraguay, the brand Tigo has been deployed in the majority of the telecom operations of Millicom Internation Cellular (NASDAQ:MICC), such as Bolivia, Guatemala, Senegal, Ghana or Rwanda.

The word "Tigo" does not have a widely recognized etymology. It is a brand name used by several companies around the world, including a telecommunications company in many African countries. The origin of the name is likely a marketing invention or a derivative of another word or concept.
