The standard factory radio was an 1 1/2 DIN AM/FM/Cassette. If you wanted a cd player, an aux cd player was installed in the slot under the AC/heating controls.
I just did this to my radio. You must remove the radio for the dash. Open the radio to reveal the circuit board and solder new bulbs on the board. I found the bulbs at Radio shack online.

Remove the dash trim piece,the one with the plastic that covers all the instrument panel. It snaps on and will pull off. This will expose the screws that secure the radio to the dash. After loosening the radio, the wiring can be disconnected.
