Working out is the best way to gain muscle, but takes a long time. I recomend you eat a lot of proteins. Such as meats and cheese. MIlk does count too...it increases bone density. I would try to keep my meals balanced throughout the whole food pyramid though...eating too much of one thing isn't good for your body. Try eating cheese for a snack. Snacks are good if they are healthy.
