According to Haynes, 12.5 quarts
your radiator has internally failed. it needs to be changed immediatly before irreversible damage is done to the transmission. flush your transmission and coolant several times.
7 quarts
Disconnect the lower hose
What I do is put half antifreeze and half water in to the radiator and keep putting more radiator fluid tell you see it in the neck of the radiator and put some radiator fluid in the coolant reservoir tank too.
The coolant capacity of a radiator in a 1986 Chevy Cavalier is 10.3 quarts. You can use any standard radiator fluid that's made for all makes and models of cars.
what is the radiator capacity on my 97 delta olds with a 3800 series engine The radiator only holds about 3 to 4 qts. The entire cooling system holds about 12 qts.
I Had the same Problem. I change my Transmission screen and replace the gasket. this solved my problem.
You don't. The 1996 model describes the transmission as "forever filled", therefore, there is not a cap to view the status of the fluid. Not really: The dipstick for the transmission fluid is near the air box and under a hose.
Owners manual will have a chart with fluid specs and capacities
Unless your radiator has a leak, the radiator fluid stays in the radiator.
radiator fluid
Most modern vehicles have a reservoir from which extra coolant can flow to the radiator and vice versa. Coolant in this reservoir usually indicates the radiator has sufficient fluid. Checking the radiator by opening the cap is a secondary means but the level may vary by temperature.
