Can you use transformer in place of amplifier?

A transformer is a passive device while an amplifier is an active device. a transformer can amplify voltage but never power WHILE AN AMPLIFIER CAN amplify power's can you use it sure withing the limitation of the transformer and only to amplify volts.

Why transformer is not called an amplifier?

In an ideal transformer the power in equals the power out there is no gain. In an ideal amplifier the power out equals the Gain *Power In. An ideal transformer transforms energy at a ratio of its windings. For example an ideal 1:10 ratio transformer (step up) would convert a 10Volt input at 10amps to a 100Volt output at 1Amp. Or conversely an ideal 10:1 ratio transformer (step down) would convert a 10Volt 10Amp input into a 1Volt 100Amp output. Since Power = Voltage * Current we can see the power in equals the power out in an ideal transformer. In an ideal amplifier the power out is greater than the power in. This is defined as the gain of the amplifier. An ideal amplifier with a Voltage gain of 10 would take a 1Volt 1amp signal and amplify it into a 10Volt 1 amp signal. An ideal amplifier with a Current gain of 10 would take a 1Volt 1Amp signal and amplify it into a 1Volt 10 amp signal. Since Power = Voltage * current we can see the power in is less than the power out showing a gain in power.

White bias-line equation?

An amplifier is what increases a rock band's speaker sound output into a ear splitting experience and small radio signals in a radio until it makes it out to the speaker. A transformer converts AC electricity up or down to a desired level for a required project. Example: A battery charger plugged into a wall socket will transformed to about 18 votls to do the charging. Speaking in technical terms, an amplifier is a device which increases the power of a signal by either increasing the voltage or current or both. Whereas, a Transformer is a device which simply transfers power, i.e., the energy on both input and output is the same. In the case of an amplifier, the output power is higher than the input power. This is because of the power input we give to an amplifier.

If you have a 120V Sony stereo amplifier that you plugged into a wall transformer to step down from 240V in Denmark and it worked fine then zapped can you replace the fried component to accept 240V?

== == If you have to ask a question like this please do not open the cover of the amplifier.

What is the definition of inter connecting transformer?

How a rectifier transformer deffer from a power transformer?

rectifier transformer converts acinto dc.but, power transformer convert step up or step down ac energy without changing frequency

What is a step down transformer?

A step down transformer essentially allows devices that require low voltage power supplies to operate from a high voltage power supply. This is how it gets its name.

What is Auto transformer and ordinary transformer?

auto transformer is a one winding transformer which is are used for step up and step down voltage without chang its power and friquncy

What is tie transformer?

It is a step down transformer which is used to supply the electrical power to the station transformers and the colony transformers

Difference between power and furnace transformer?

Power transformer is used step up or down the voltage for the electricity transmission while furnace transformer is used to melt the metals and ores in the electric furnace.

Can one step up power from inverter with step-up transformer?

No. You can not step up power with a transformer. You can step up voltage, while stepping down current, or you can step up current, while stepping down voltage, but you cannot step up (or down) power.

What are the types of and uses for a transformer?

There are two types of transformers:- 1. Step-up transformer & 2. Step-down transformer. A transformer used to increase the voltage is called Step-up transformer. A transformer used to decrease the voltage is called Step-down transformer. Uses of step-up transformer:- in power supply stations, in picture tubes of TV, computer monitors, halogen lights, etc. Uses of step-down transformer:- in supply of electricity to homes, in the power supply to the low voltage devices like radio, music systems which are run by AC mains.

What do transformer coil have to do with the way the transformer control voltage in alternating current?

Transformer coils are normally used to step down power from high power lines to a power you can actually use in your house. This works through the ratio of windings on a coil to the windings on the output side.
