I recently purchased a 1995 E350 Ambulance with the 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel that has this control unit. The Ambulanceis equiped with200 amp alternator and I think the charge protect function is used to insure you don't fry everything if the Alternator malfunctions and goes into a full charge mode. My understanding is you can progam this computer with up to 4 rpm settings to insure that you maintain your battery charge when using all the electrical items in the ambulance, which is a lot. The ambulance came with an instruction card on how to use thiscomputer unitbut I just haven't had time to figure it out because of everything I'm doing to convert this vehicle to a work van for my son. I don't see any copyright restrictions on the card, so if you will send me your email address to kandtryan@hotmail.com, I'll scan the instructions in andemail them to you. OR better yet you can accessthe following dieselstop'sweb site and click on "Introduction" which has considerable informationabout this APC Module: http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/geninfo/apcm.php3#Introduction
