yes, u r correct, however the cts does alot more. the cts also turns on your fans and when cold it tells the computer "more fuel" sorta like the old carb. days on choke mode. when cold do you notice the engine revs higher? that is thanks to the cts. when the car reaches n.o.t. (normal operating temperture), shortly after this the cts tells the comp. to turn on the fan or fans. but the 1st guys answer is also correct, it also shows how hot or cold the engine temp. is by showing you via the gauge or light( if over heating) good luck. master tech 26yrs
