No, they are two completely different designs. aerostar is rear wheel drive ,taurus front wheel drive.

It is possible that the 1992 Aerostar has a faulty distributor cap. It is likely that moisture is getting into the housing of the distribution and preventing it from starting.

It is 0.044 ======================================================= According to one of Fords websites : The spark plug gap for the 4.0 liter V6 engine in a 1992 Ford Aerostar is ( .054 inch ) * the .044 inch spark plug gap is for the 3.0

You have to remove the front wheels to gain access to the spark plugs.

answer for 1992 3.0 correct firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6 dist.rotation clockwise.

I own a 1992 Aerostar. I believe you will find a reset switch button behind the covering under the dash on the passenger side of the front. You should be able to gently pull the cover back away and reach in, locate the switch and press the reset button.

check side panel in engine compartment should be only piece there.
