2.833 is the rear-end gear ratio
Yes, it is. However, there is separate gear oil in the final drive of the Goldwing, as it is shaft driven.
Yes because a Honda Goldwing has a reverse gear otherwise the driver walks backwards
Yes, The starter is actually used for the reverse gear on this bike.
That would be a safety feature and is normal.
Perhaps the problem may be that your Honda's clutch is wearing out.
In a word, NO. I have a 1982 Goldwing Aspencade and no reverse. No reverse until the 1500's came out in 1988.
remove battery cable remove gear change lever remove two bolts thru starter then work it out .' that's it
A reverse gear can be added to a 1985 Goldwing Aspencade. It is best to have it done at a specialty shop that works with older Goldwing's.
The final drive gear ratio for the Valkyrie is 2.833 from what I have found in 5 different sites..(though I don't have those site available at the moment) I also found that the goldwing has a 2.75? final gear ratio, and different 4th and 5th gear ratios..wonder if they'll interchange??
No, it requires 5 speed Honda MTF gear oil which is in the 40 weight range.
