The Gulf of Suez refers to the northern portion of the Red Sea which splits the Sinai peninsula.
The western portion of the Gulf of Suez is used mainly for shipping between the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian ocean, via the Suez Channel. The eastern portion of the Gulf of Suez acts as a shipping route, enabling cargo to be taken up the Red Sea to the port of Aqaba.
