Adderall XR is a slow release form of the drug. Regular adderall takes 10 hours for it to reach it's half life. Adderall XR has two different kinds of beads of the drug in the capsul, one being regular adderall and the other taking longer to absorb. The half life of adderall XR is at the least 10 hours....at the very least. And yes, it shows up on a drug test as an amphetamine. If it came up on a drug test it would be in the same category as meth. Hense the latter part of that word, "meth," - amphetamine! It's legal speed just like methadone is legal herion, essentially.
Also another thing to think about....if the half life of a drug is longer than about 12 hours, and you take that drug every day, it builds up in your sytem and will take longer to get out of your system. Because if you take it and is hasn't reached it's half life in your body your just adding to the build up of that drug in your system, therefore increasing the half life.
