Any half of a planet with a great circle as a boundary can be called a hemisphere. Most often the equator is used as a boundary dividing the planet into a northern hemisphere and a southern hemisphere. The Earth has an accepted "prime meridian" (which runs through Greenwich England) and the continuation of that meridian divides the Earth into an eastern and a Western Hemisphere.

∙ 12y agoThe moon planet hemisphere is divided into two equal parts. The one to the north is known as the Northern Hemisphere. The other is the Southern Hemisphere. When the moon planet is between the earth planet and the sun planet, the light from the sun planet is sometimes blocked from the earth planet by the moon planet hemispheres. This is what is known as a moon planet hemispheric shadow or in less scientific circles, a lunar eclipse.
