First off let me say I agree.

If you're talking about modern MX bikes (not those old crazy guys with road bike engines in dirtbikes) people always tried to race 4 stroke trail bikes with little success in 250 class. It was in 1998 that Yamaha developed the YZ400F and WR400F two high performance, water cooled 4 stroke bikes, one for tracks and one for woods. The bike was the begining of the 4 stroke revolution and the same 400 4 stroke engine went on to win the first AMA championship on a four stroke.
