on computer controlled vehicles the iac adjusts engine tickover speeds by variing the amount of air it allows through a separate air bleed to the main airflow in throttle body if engine stalls when on tickover or when ac compressor cuts in may need resetting

Most newer cars have either a Idler pully that cant be adjusted>needs replaced. easy> And some older cars tighten by looseing the alternator and adusting that way, pull back till tight, while holding, tighten bolt back up.
You should never need to replace a carb. Cleaned yes, rebuilt yes, but not replaced. If the car is being driven then at most you need to have it adjusted and tuned up. The only time you will ever need to replace a carb is when it is so gummed up from sitting that it can't be cleaned properly.
The transmission throttle valve cable needs to be adjusted.

you dont, it has a hydraulic tensioner. if it needs to be adjusted then it needs to be replaced
