Spooling is an acronym for Simultaneous Peripheral Operation On-Line and involves placement of data in temporary working area for another program to process. Buffering on the hand, is preloading data into a reserved area of memory which is called the buffer.
Buffering is a technique to storing a data before it is work. for ex. When you burn your CD or printing your file then computer first store data in temporary/random memory i.e. buffer to follow your action.
It is a process of storing data in memory area called Buffers while data is being transferred between two devices or between a device and an application. Buffering is done for 3 reasons: a. To cope with the speed mismatch between producer (or sender) and consumer (or receiver) of a data stream. b. To adapt between the devices having different data-transfer size. c. To support copy semantics for application I/O.
Buffering involves temporarily storing data in a buffer memory while waiting for processing or transmission. This helps smooth out variations in data flow and prevents interruptions or delays in the data stream. Buffers are commonly used in various devices and applications to optimize performance and ensure seamless data transfer.
Modems us a type of memory called a Buffer to temporarily store incoming or outgoing data
cache memory
Buffering and windowing
1. Describe a specific characteristics of incoming data where simple buffering is sufficient to catch them without losing any part of it. Do the same for double buffering and circular buffering.
Memory cache stores frequently used instructions and data on a computer. Cache memory is stored on a memory chip in an area of the RAM.
