To flip the back seat down.
There is a little black knob on the top left back of the car you see when you raise the trunk lid. Pull that knob. If you close the trunk before putting the seat down it will push the knob back in and lock the seat again.
1) Open trunk 2) Pull out black knob (left side of trunk opening) 3) Leave trunk lid open and pull rear seatback forward with strap (left side of seatback)
Just inside the trunk, turn the plastic knob, pull back the carpet door, and remove the 3 plastic screw downs, the light fixture then should push out from the vehicle and allow you to change the bulbs.

Inside the trunk there are two knobs you can pull. These are located under the top lip of the trunk offset to to right. Pull on the knob and push forward on the seat from inside the trunk.
There is a button in your trunk. Pull that out and a cord on the side of the rear seat. Pull that and voila! Rear seat is down!
I have a 1993 300sl and the battery is in the trunk on the passenger side. There is a knob that has to be twisted out and the wll of the trunk should pop out revealing a car battery. Its not that hard. Hope this helps.
