i am not sure about bb guns, but i do know that airsoft guns are legal. Because airsoft guns are considered toys by the government, you should be allowed to use them as long as you have your orange tip on your gun and are careful who you aim at.
The previous answer does not answer the question posed. It is an opinion, and everyone has one.
The law is not state wide, it is based on the city or county where you are shooting your airsoft gun at. So like with any law it is best to contact the local authorities. The shooting of airsoft guns is illegal in Beaverton though.

Under the ordinance, a replica firearm is any toy or imitation that substantially duplicates a lethal firearm or can reasonably be perceived to be an actual firearm.
The rules would not apply to brightly colored toy guns or those constructed of transparent or translucent materials.
It also does not restrict the use of replica guns on private property, including backyards.
Anyone violating the ordinance could get a citation.

∙ 12y agoUtah has no state laws governing Airsoft guns other than the federal law requiring the orange tip and the lack of any law requiring the tip to remain on the gun. However, the cities of North Ogden, Ogden, Centerville, South Jordan and South Ogden have laws prohibiting ownership of Airsoft guns. These laws have been uniformly enforced by law enforcement after an incident of mistaken identity by a police officer who faced an Airsoft gun without the orange tip and thought it was a real gun. Other cities throughout the country have laws ranging from New York City's requirement that the entire gun be made of bright colored plastic, to the perverse law in some Illinois cities that prohibit the sale or transportation of Airsoft guns but allow the removal of the orange tips.

∙ 11y agoIn Ohio, airsoft guns are not considered to be firearms. But you still have to have an orange tip on the barrel of the gun. It cannot be shorter than 6mm in width. As long as you don't use them anywhere near other people and you use common sense (not brandishing them in public) you'll be fine.
