The UK is lead by an elected group by the people of the UK. There are different political parties that people can vote for. The UK is divided into constituencies, during elections people vote and the person that gets the most votes goes to the UK parliament. Usually then the party with the most people called seats become the government. The maximum length is 5 years but it is normal for it to be 4 years.

There are now also sub governments in Scotland and Wales which are voted for as well.

The overall head of state is the Queen, Queen Elizabeth the second. Though she mainly symbolic head of state and has no legal powers over any of the laws of state.
