if you can still find a repair shop that can clean and change out the brushes, etc, it should last a lifetime.

ANS 2 - You can find assorted brushes and bearings at shops that re-build starters and alternators, and it's a fairly simple job for an average craftsman to replace them in most construction tools. -I've done many of mine including my oldest, a 1970 Skilsaw -still going strong, in almost daily use.
