Literary writing uses emotional words to show the reader how the character in the story feels. Here are some examples: love, loathe, unsure, thrilled, dreaded

Kathy was convinced she loved Brian because whenever she came near Brian her heart sped up and her tummy did back flips.

Brian loathed Kathy because she repulsed him whenever she laughed that nauseating laugh that sounded like a hyena.

Kathy was thrilled to see Brian descend from the military airplane. She had not seen him for a year. Her heart began beating fast again.

Brian groaned. He elbowed his buddy. "Look, there is that horrible girl I was telling you about. I dread seeing her and talking to her. I think I will throw up."

His buddy said she was cute and asked Brian to introduce him to Kathy.

As soon as Kathy came close to Brian and Derek her eyes became glued on Derek. Brian disappeared from her mind. She giggled when Brian introduced Derek. Derek's brows rose.

Derek could not understand why Brian did not like Kathy's bubbly little laugh. It was love at first sight for him.
