What is the location of the number one cylinder and number one distributor for a 1985 Dodge Ram 350 Van?
look on your intake manifold each cyl.has a num.above it.near the frunt of the manifold is your fireing order.bring #1 to t.d.c.(top-dead-center)the rotor button is at #1.cap should be marked.
There should be a mark on the distributor or it's switch plate that indicates where the rotor should point for cylinder 1. If you look at the distributor from the front of the vehicle, the closest center position should be for cylinder 2. Clockwise 1/8 th turn from that should be cylinder 1 position, but double check against the indicator mark that should be present.
it is the same as any v8 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2- when looking at the distributor it runs clockwise. cylinder 1 is driverside front odds on the drivers side evens on the passenger side cylinder 1 on the cap should be marked if you are not removing the distributor cap you can usually feel the number 1 imprinted on the cap
