the Panama Canal

longest canal is in china, in Western Hemisphere its not the Panama canal which is less than 100 miles, possibly the Erie canal at about 360 miles, st Lawrence seaway is at about 2500 miles (assuming you meant miles and not feet...) but its not just a canal

The longest canal ever built in North America was the Wabash & Erie Canal in Indiana, stretching 497 miles from Lake Erie (Toledo, OH) to the Ohio River (Evansville, IN). It connects and uses multiple waterways throughout the state of Indiana, including the Maumee River, the Miami & Erie Canal, the origianl Wabash & Erie Canal, the Wabash River, the Cross Cut Canal, and the Central Canal. Ground was broke in 1832, and the canal began operation in 1843.
