The Magna Carta was signed by King John of England. It was singed at Runnymede in a meadow. They made it to limit King John's powers and give the citizens under him more freedom.

The Magna Carta became necessary because of the increasing discontent of the people of England. King John finally assented to signing it. It gave people more civil rights.

When King John entered the throne he began to tax the citizens heavily. This lead to the citizens getting angry and them forcing him to sign the magna carta.
