Right so, one of the native animals to Switzerland is a Chamois. This animal is a cousin of the goat, which we all know from different countries.
Now this is a photo of a chamois:
At maturity the Chamois stands about 4.5 feet tall and weighs about 110 pounds. The horns on its' head curve into a hook at the end. It has two white strips running down its' face and a 6 inch mane (or beard) running down its' back.
Now, sadly, local people love to eat those creatures. They also like the leather of this native Swiss animal. The mane of the chamois is normally used to decorate hats and clothes.
There is also the marmont. This animal is chinchilla like.
Here is a photo:
I guess it also looks like a guinea pig without the tail... :)
So it has a squirrel like (or guinea pig like) head and a soft-silver coat.
They hibernate in the winter meaning they stock up for it in the spring and summer. Their biggest worry are birds, snakes and foxes that eat them.
Beautiful creatures to see when in Switzerland :)
