Probably Hitler's biggest error was attacking Russia. He had already attacked France and Britain, but turning east and attacking the Soviet Union divided his forces and doubled his enemies.
His second-worst error was to allow Japan to attack the United States. Franklin Roosevelt had refused to enter the war on the side of England, but after Pearl Harbor, he had no choice. After Japan's "sneak attack", the American population was ready to go to war. The US even provided substantial support to Russia; without the US entry into the war, Russia's survival would have been gravely in doubt.
