The JC Higgins was made Savage Stephens. It is basically the same as the Model 94 by Savage Stephens. It was made from 1937 to the 1980's and to give an exact date of manufacture is almost impossible because there aren't factory records available.

Trick question. None. JC Higgins was a trade name for Sears. Sears purchased all their guns from many manufacturers. You must track back with the Sears number to determine the manufacturer and from there to the correct model.

Your rifle was made by Marlin for Sears, but used a different serial number sequence, making it difficult to date it precisely. The JC Higgins name was only used on the model 45 from 1958 to 1961. By the way, that is a really good deer rifle.
