The only time there's a maximum allowable weight is in the instance of a Class C CDL, which can only be used for vehicles of 26,000 lbs. GVWR or less. So long as the licence matches the type of vehicle being operated, it can be operated at any weight it's legally permitted to do so.

There isn't one. A Class B CDL is simply for any single vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating in excess of 26,000 lbs. It doesn't place a limit on how heavy of a single they can drive.

Can you estimate how much does a school bus weigh?

They vary by manufacturer, passenger capacity, etc. Some are under CDL weight, but still require a CDL, as they are designed to transport more than 15 persons (including the driver). The highest gross weight which a school bus would be allowed is 33,000 (35,000 in some states), as that's the max allowable weight for a two axle (steer axle and drive axle) vehicle. So you're at anywhere between 22,000 to 33,000 lbs, variables considered. wow your smart! {a comment}

What is the gross weight of a 24ft truck?

Depends on what model truck it is. Generally speaking, you can expect the manufacturer to rate them at 26,000 lbs, in order to allow them to be sold as non-commercial vehicles. However, many of them (such as the Ford F750) come with 31,000 lb axles. The max allowable weight on a single axle truck is going to be 33,000 lbs., but anything over 26,000 requires a CDL.

What type of license do you need for 1996 international flatbed tow truck?

International manufactures Class 5 through Class 8 trucks.. what licence you need depends on what model you have. If the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (i.e., the max loaded weight) is 26,000 lbs. or less, you can drive it on a regular drivers licence. If it's rated at more than 26,000 lbs., you need a Class B CDL.

What is the max load length I can pull without a cdl?

Vehicle length is not a factor in determining whether or not a CDL is required.

How much weight will a single axle dump truck hold?

It depends on the vehicle class of the truck and if they are subject to the federal DOT regs. Most states mirror the same but some might have different weights for intrastate operations. All dump trucks are not the same and this info is for the US. A class 3 which would be a 1 ton truck with a dump bed will have a 14,000 lbs max weight limit. Subtract the weight of the truck from that and you will get the weight it can hold. A class the class 7 heavy truck weight limit is between 26,001- 33,000 lbs which is about the most you will see without tandem axles. Again, subtract the curb weight from the max weight and check the manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) to ensure it isn't listed below the max class rating. A typical max weight of the load for a class 3 might be 4,000 - 6,000lbs (2-3 tons) the max weight of the load for a class 7 dump truck might be around 12,000 lbs or 6 tons up to about 18,000lbs or 9 tons. Of course lighter trucks will carry more and heavier trucks have to carry less.

How much weight is allowed on a 26000lb straight truck?

26000 lbs. is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. That's the max it can legally weigh on the road. Subtract the vehicle's tare (empty) weight from that, and you have your allowable net weight. 4-1/2 to six tons is typical of the allowed net weight for a 26k GVWR truck.

What is age requirement to drive interstate commercial vehicle with weight of 12000pounds?

18 for vehicles requiring a regular driver's license, 21 if it's a vehicle requiring a Class C CDL. A vehicle under 26,001 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating requires a Class C (minimum) CDL if it's a bus designed to transport more than 15 persons (including the driver) or if it's carrying a quantity of hazardous materials which requires placards to be displayed in accordance with 49 CFR. Keep in mind that this applies to single vehicles, and if it's a combination (vehicle plus trailer), the weight rating of both the vehicle and any trailer it pulls are factored in. So, if it's a pickup rated at 12,000 lbs. GVWR and it's towing a trailer rated at 16,000 lbs. GVWR, you have a Gross Combined Weight Rating of 28,000 lbs., and that would require a Class A CDL. Also be aware that weight rating refers to the max loaded weight of the vehicle, not the empty weight. So the vehicle might only weigh 12,000 lbs. empty, but it's the loaded weight which they go off of.

How much weight can a 24' flatbed truck carry?

Well, this is going to remain an unknown without knowing the vehicle type and configuration. A tandem axle truck can typically have a gross weight of 54,000 lbs. This would typically allow 13 - 15 tons of freight to be carried. A Class 7 single axle truck which is registered as such can have a max GVW of 33,000 lbs. on Interstate highways, which typically permits 7 - 9 tons of freight to be carried. A Class 6 single axle truck is below weight requirements for a CDL, and is allowed a max GVW of 26,000 lbs, which normally allows five tons of freight to be carried.
