The maximum you could install on this notebook is 2Gb. It runs DDR memory. So the best thing would be to purchase 2 x 1Gb Sticks.
I just installed a 320 Gb. I ordered it on ebay. I searched for "dell latitude d600 hard drive" and with shipping it was just over $80.
