Academic preparation is an AP course. AP stands for Advanced Placement.

I can give an example if that would help.

There are many AP courses including AP Calculus and AP Chemistry.

Usually these courses are offered by High schools to gives the students college credit.

A student who successfully completed AP calculus at high school does not have to take all calculus courses at a college.
