"Some other yogi worship the Me, who is with out any size, shape or property. (like the material things posses.) Some other worship Me as the infinite One. (with different motive or emotion or intention.) (9/15)."I am kratu, I am yagnya, I am swadha, I am drugs (?), I am mantra, I am the ghee, I am the fire, I am the process of pouring. (9/16).

( Here lord Krishna is saying that He is the one, which is considered as parts of the worship as per the Veda.)

"I am the one, who has hold the entire world, living and non-living. I am the one, who gives you fruits of your karma. I am the one, father, mother, grand father. I am the word called as Om. I am the the Rigveda, Samveda and Yajurveda also." ( 9/17).

"I am the one, who is to be gained or obtained as the ultimate one. I am the one, who feeds you. I am the one, who is the ultimate God. I am the one, who is the ultimate place to stay with. I am the one, who is to be surrendered to. I am the one, who will help you with out demanding anything in return. I am the one, for who the world is created and destroyed. I am the one, who support the world. I am the one, into which the whole world disappear into and i am the one, who is indestructible. (9/18).

"I am the one, who gives you energy by of sun. I am the one, who gives you rains. I am the one, the death and life too. I am the reality and reverse of it. (9/19).

( Lord Krishna talks logically. When He talks other wise, you can say that the words do not come from Him. But there can be somethings, which may be beyond the logic also. I want to highlight the fact here that to presume that every thing can be explained by the logic is not correct. Human brain has got it's own limitation. Like human brain can not know about the infinity as well as about the point in mathematics also. So let all these be left to future generations. Some body will will be able to explain the same in future.)

"Some people fallow the three Veda. Do the worship in order to get the material things. They do no bad things and worship Me by way of holy fire. They want to go to the heaven. So such people go to heaven and get the objects of sensory organs there, like the other gods. (9/20).

"They enjoy the very large heaven, come back to earth after they consume the fruits of their good karma. Like this, the people, who want to get the benefits as per described in the three Veda, get births and deaths repeatedly. (9/21).

"The people, who worship Me with ultimate dedication, without any expectations, who think about Me only, then I personally look into the daily needs of that person." (9/22).

(Here the God has promised that if you worship Him, with out any expectation, then He will see that you get the material things that you need. Incidentally, you do not need much for your daily needs. They are the stupid people, who rob others for silly material things and can not consume even part of it. The stupid ones also do not think about the ecosystem and the future generations. People becomes great by giving and not by taking. You are born to help others.)

"Look Arjuna, even if the people worship the other gods, they worship Me only. But that worship is coming out of their ignorance." (9/23).

(If you worship the finite gods, you worship the 'part' of infinite God only. But then you are bound to get the finite fruits only.)

"Because I am the infinite God. Who do not understand this fact, get the rebirths." (9/24).

"Those, who worship the finite gods, go to finite gods. those, who worship the ancestors, goes to ancestors. Those, who worship the things, go to those things only. Those, who worship the infinite Myself, come to Me only. So those, who worship Me, do not get the rebirth." ( 9/25).

( Here the translation of the one or two words may be incorrect like Bhuta. But the meaning is crystal clear. You go to the place, where you want to go. The proper place to go in infinite God only.)

"If some body, who worship Me, gives Me with love, a leaf, a flower, a fruit, even a water also, with ultimate dedication, then I accept the same with love." (9/26).

(Here you can understand the power of love. You can force the infinite God with ultimate love and dedication to come to you. You are part of the infinite God and doing stupid things out of your ego only. The love of the infinite God for the soul can be easily understood.)

"Look Arjuna, what ever you do, what ever you eat, what ever you put in the holy fire, what ever you donate, what ever you dedication you do, dedicate to Me." (9/27).

"If you dedicate everything to Me only, you will be free from the bad or good fruits of your karma. Then you will come to Me only." (9/28).

"I am there in every soul with equal quantity. Nobody is more or less closer to Me or away from Me. But the ones, who worship Me with love are there in Me and I am in them. "(9/28).

(As you tend to lose your ego, you go more and more close to that infinite God.)

"Even if some body, who has done all the bad things, worship Me with ultimate dedication, should be called as holy man. Because he has faith on Me." (9/29).

( If you worship the ultimate God, you do not get the bad fruits of your bad karma also.)

"Shortly that bad man becomes holy man. He obtains the ultimate peace of mind. Look Arjuna, know this fact that My follower is never get destroyed." (9/31).

" Look Arjuna, females, Vaishya, Shudra, (all these are considered as not suitable to worship the God and of lower quality) or may be any body else, when surrender Me, goes to that ultimate place of Mine." (9/32).

(The Brahman only is considered fit to perform holy rituals as per the ancient belief. Here the Lord Krishna has categorically given equal right to every body to obtain the infinite place. That is very logical, but may hurt the ego of many so called holy people.)

"Then is it necessary to tell that the holy Brahman and the Kshatriya come to Me, when they surrender to infinite Me? So you worship Me only, as you get this life, which is there with out happiness and will perish in no time." (9/33).

(Nobody is happy. Everybody is in search of happiness. You search happiness in the material things and go on doing bad things to get the happiness. That attempt is futile. Material things can give you absence of unhappiness. Life is too short and so should be spent in helping out needy ones and in worship of the infinite God.)

"You concentrate on the infinite Me, you worship the infinite Me, you dedicate yourself to infinite Me, you surrender to infinite Me. then you will come to infinite Me. ( 9/34).

What is a shloka?

A sanscrit term shloka (श्लोक; also spelt sloka) specifically denotes a metered and often rhymed poetic verse or phrase. Shloka is the chief metre used in the Epics.[1]It also connotes and has come to mean a proverb and a form of prayer throughout Indian religions having arisen in the Vedas. Shloka has become equated with Hindu prayer and is often comparable to a proverb and hymn of praise to be sung or chanted in liturgy. Shloka are generally composed in a specified meter, typically part of stotras.

Sanskrit devotional slokas with English meaning?

Explore the desigram website. Slokas of Krishna, Rama, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Vishnu, Hanuman, etc are given with their English translations. The above assumes that the shlokas you want translated are Divine Invocations only. Though shloka means "praise" it could also be quite secular in content. The best way to find the meaning of a shloka is to know the meaning of the words that go to make the shloka. But then there could be situations where knowing the meanings of all the wods could still leave you high and dry. It would better to look for sites dealing with Sanskrit shlokas and search for the one you are looking for. Alternatively, you could send a message to me on My message board, I will be able to type in the shloka and its meaning in English.

What is the meaning of the shloka from 1 to 14 in section 8 or adhyaya 8 of Bhagwat Geeta?

Arjuna asks, "What is Brahma? What is Adhyatma? What does it mean by karma? What is Adhibhut? What is Adhidaiwa? (8/1)." Krishna, what is Adhiyadhya? How is he there in this body? And how can you be obtained by the right person? (8/2). Lord Krishna says, " The one, which can not be destroyed is called as Brahma. The soul is called as Adhyatma. The sacrifice (?), which is there with the material things(?)(That includes the living and non living things, probably) is called as Karma. (8/3). "What ever is and can be created and destroyed is called as Adhibhuta. The Purusha (Literally meaning is man as on today in Marathi language.) is Adhidaiwa. I am there in the body as the Adhiyadya." (8/3). (These are the few definitions. I did not find them relevant and always neglected. i may edit the same, may be after few years. It took years for me to make some comments on this holy book. Now that i got that there can be very important information here in this shloka. The information is probably, where from the soul come from. It looks that the soul is the part of the infinite God only. That is mentioned in the last sentence. How and why the soul got separated is the gold question. This is open for the guesswork and discussion.) "The person, who gives up his body and dies and remembers me at the end of his life, comes to Me. There is no doubt about the same." (8/4). ( Then, why to fallow the righteous path in the life? The answer lies here. It is highly likely that you will recall the thing, when you die, you have been after for your whole life. So it is better to have the good moral character through out your life.) (Character is what you actually are and the reputation is what others think about you.) "Look Arjuna, The person goes to the state, which he thinks about at the time of death. Because he is always thinking about the same thing." (8/6). "That is why, Arjuna, always think about Me only. Go for the war also. When you have your mind and intellect, that is concentrated to Me, you will come to Me, with out any doubt." (8/7). "Look Arjuna, This is the rule (of the nature?) that, who so ever concentrate on Me, does not think about any thing else, comes ultimately to Me only." (8/7). ( Arjuna has called Lord Krishna by many different names in Geeta. Lord Krishna has also called Arjuna by many different names. The names are very beautiful. For to avoid the confusion that i have used everywhere the names Arjuna and Krishna only.) "The person, who remembers the the one, who knows every thing (God), controller of all, smaller than the smallest, the one who feeds every living thing, unthinkable, the one, who shines like a sun, the one, who is far beyond the ignorance, the one, who is ultimate happiness and truth," (8/9). " that person, at the end of his life, concentrate in between his own eyebrows, goes to the God" (8/10). (The above two two lines form the single sentence. The meaning in short is that, if you remember the God, when you die, you go to God.) "The people, who know Vedas, call Him indestructible, the house of happiness that does not end, the one, who has done sacrifice of every thing and try to reach there, the people, who fallow the abstinence to reach there, will be described by Me, in short." (8/11). "The one, who has control over all the sensory organs, the one, who has his mind concentrated on ultimate God, then got stabled in the Yoga, then says "Om", which is the name for ultimate God and then die, goes to ultimate place." (8/12, 8/13). "Look Arjuna, the one, who concentrate on me and nothing else, the one, who remembers me round the clock, comes to Me, with ease." (8/14). ( i could never convince myself about the logic in the shloka above. But then i do not have the experience also about what do you feel like when you die. So i prefer not to comment on the same.)

Anyone knows what is the meaning of those Sanskrit Shloks used in the Hindi movie Vaastav Or atleast tell how to know?

Shri krushnen subhadraaye garbhavaddeh niropitam, chakravyuvah praveshasya rahasyam chaarkutam hittah!!Abhimanyusthi toh garbhe, divya dnyaan yutoshunoh, rahasyam chakravyuvasyah, sampoornam nasa dynaat tvah:vaa!!This shloka describes the incident from Mahabharatha where Lord Krishna narrates the secret(rahasyam) to crack a Chakravyuvah (a multi-tier defensive formation that looks like a blooming lotus or disc (chakra, चक्र) when viewed from above).Abhimanyu is said to have acquired the knowledge to penetrate(praveshasya) the formation, when he was still inside his mother's(Subhadra) womb (garbha). But Subhadra fell asleep in the midst of the narration. Hence Abhimanyu could not get the complete(sampoornam) knowledge(dnyaat) of how to exit the Vyuvah. This shloka is used in Vaastav as an analogy that Raghu (Sanjay Dutt) entered the underworld (Chakravyuvah) and now is trapped as he does not know how to exit it.-Pritesh Karnawat

Why Hinduism present thousands of forms of the same god?

Hinduism gave the freedom to the individual to worship God the way he/she deemed fit. "Twameva maata cha pita twameva, twameva bandhushcha sakha twameva, twameva vidya cha dravinam twameva, twameva sarvam mama deva deva" You are my mother, you are my father, you are my friend, You are my lover, You are my knowledge, You are my wealth, You are my everything Oh My Lord God. This shloka gave the Hindus who follow a religion that is not organized, the freedom to choose to love the Lord in multiple forms and colors. Diversity of thought is celebrated as God's gift in Hinduism. "Ekam Sathya Vipra Bahuda Vadanti" The truth is ONE but the wise have explained Him differently says this beautiful shloka. The name of the ONE God in Hinduism is "Brahman" not to be confused with Brahmin. Brahmin means one who knows Brahman.
