A prokaryotic cell is normally a bacteria. A prokaryotic cell does not have a membrane around it's nucleus, it has loops of DNA free in its cytoplasm. A eukaryotic cell is any cell with many organelles (other parts which help it function) and a membrane-bound nucleus. The nucleus is the key difference- if it has a membrane, it is Eukaryotic/a Eukaryote. If not, it is Prokaryotic/a Prokaryote.

Prokaryotic cells replicate by translating their DNA into RNA and then transferring it back into DNA. Otherwise, many viruses replicate within prokaryotic cells in a parasitic relationship, using the genetic material, energy and parts of the cell to replicate their own genetic material and multiply or just to hide until they are ready to replicate.
The major structural advantage of a eukaryotic cell over a prokaryotic cell is the presence of a nuclear membrane. This provides added support to the organism and protection of the genetic material.
