As the name suggests it has three lumens, one used to inflate the ballon to keep the catheter in place, the second lumen is used to flush and irrigate the bladder with fluids to prevent clotting and blockage of the catheter after surgery, and the third lumen is for draining the urine from the bladder. The term used is Bladder irrigation.
