If you mean the screw on part that holds the lamp shade on the it's called a Finial. If you mean the stand that hooks on right below the socket I've heard it called a harp.

What is a new color called when you make a hue light?

The new color created when you change the hue of a light is called a tint or a shade. A tint is created by adding white to a hue, while a shade is created by adding black to a hue. The amount of white or black added will determine how light or dark the tint or shade is. For example, if you start with a blue hue and add white, you will create a tint of blue. The more white you add, the lighter the tint will become. If you start with a blue hue and add black, you will create a shade of blue. The more black you add, the darker the shade will become. The terms "tint" and "shade" are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference between the two. A tint is a lighter version of a hue, while a shade is a darker version of a hue.

Do palm trees provide shade?

Palm trees provide some shade but not a lot of shade. There are other trees that provide much better shade like an oak tree for example.

Why are transition metals used to make fireworks?

The short answer is "because of the emission spectrum of the metal in question". When metal atoms are heated strongly, they emit light of a characteristic color, due to the atom's emission spectrum (this depends somewhat on the other atoms in the compound, but generally speaking this is a minor effect, shifting it from one shade of red to a slightly different shade of red rather than shifting it from red to blue). The particular metal salt used depends on what color you want the fireworks to be. For orangish-yellow, sodium salts work well; for red, you can use strontium salts, etc.
