water pump hose extension
Yes -you will have severe metal to metal scraping
Aluminum core with plastic side tanks.
Could be one of a number of things, as it could be in any vehicle.
In a metal housing where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine.
Follow the 2 small metal lines from the side of the radiator to the transmission
The fuel filter on a 1986 Dodge Caravan with a 2.6 liter gas engine is located underneath the hood near the upper radiator hose. It's made of metal and has two lines entering it near the top. Be sure the engine is COOL before changing or removing it due to it's location near the engine. The only other place I've seen fuel filters on a caravan is on the chassis underneath the passenger side door, also made of metal. I believe the 1988 Caravan has the fuel filter in a similar location.
Metal
THERE IS NO HOSE, THE WATER PUMP IS FED BY A METAL COOLANT PIPE LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE CONNECTS TO THE PIPE.
Cut it out and weld in new steel.
On my 2003 I believe it is under the drivers side dash, right near the break padel. It has a plastic cover over it covering the metal cased breaker.
Nuts and bolts and metal
The blend door and axle are metal, and the motor connection is metal. There is a plastic piece that connects the two metal components together and failure is usually a result of the plastic breaking. Additional information on repairing the problem can be found by following links on my bio page.
