Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (ED-NOS) is actually the most common of all the eating disorders. In recent studies of ED patients admitted to hospitals or clinics the vast majority (well over 60%) were diagnosed as having ED-NOS. Anorexia Nervosa is actually quite rare (0.5-1% of gen. pop.) 1 in 100 girls and contrary to popular belief is not the most serious of EDs or the most deadly its just more researched, where as Bulimia Nervosa comes in 2nd at 1 in 4 college aged women.

Most people with eating disorders have low self-esteem. The most common reasons for having an eating disorder are a need for control, thinness, or perfection.
Fear of eating and gaining weight is a common sign / symptom of an eating disroder.
Binge-eating disorder and compulisve-over-eating disorders are the newest "eating disorders" to be added to the medical lists.
There are only two eating disorders- Anorexia and Bulemia. The most popular overall is Anorexia, by far, however it is predominately women who get it.
There are far more than 3 eating disroders out there. The three most common are anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating / compulsive over eating.
