In Revelation 16:8 and 17:5 Babylon is described as ..."that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of wrath of her fornication" and " MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH".
In Rev 18:2...."Babylon the great city is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird".
Rome could also be regarded as a type of Babylon.
