Where would one buy a fiberglass swimming pool?

A fiberglass swimming pool can be purchased from specific retailers that deal entirely in swimming pools. Most of the time these are brick-and-mortar establishments and may vary from location to location. However, online sites such as Water World Pools, or All-In-One Pools, do sell and ship fiberglass pools.

I would like to know the pros and cons of a fiberglass pool vs a concrete pool. Can you give me an idea of price of a fiberglass pool vs concrete Oval shape does not need to be lap size. Also, most energy & chemical efficient pool w/out spending alot ?

the cost for fiberglass pools are chaeper and easier to install.concrete pools are easier to maintain.a fiberglass pool may run you 3,000 to 10,000. A concrete pool run you 12,000 to 30,000 depending on the size and area of residence

Inground Pools: How to Select the Right One?

Purchasing a pool is a large investment for any homeowner. There are several different types of inground pools available, so selecting the right one can be a challenge. Currently, fiberglass, concrete and vinyl liner inground pools are being sold. Comparing each type can make buying a pool much simpler. Fiberglass inground pools are a great choice for pool buyers. They are pre-constructed at a factory and shipped to the desired location in one piece. A customer simply selects their preferred size and shape from a catalog. Fiberglass pools are typically the most expensive pool on the market, but they last the longest. In the long run, a fiberglass pool will require less repair and fewer chemicals than other pool types. It usually takes only a few weeks to install a fiberglass pool from start to finish. The inside of fiberglass pools is smooth to the touch. For homeowners that desire more freedom designing their pool, then a concrete one would be the best option. Concrete inground pools are currently the most popular on the market. They are custom created by pool builders, which is great for customers who have a difficult yard shape. Concrete is usually less expensive than fiberglass, but requires more care over the years. Unlike fiberglass, a concrete pool is built in stages, so the construction time tends to be longer, usually one to three months. These pools come with a wide variety of finishes, from rough plaster to smooth tile. Less popular are vinyl liner inground pools. These pools are typically sold to the consumer in a kit form and put together by the owner. First, the ground must be excavated to fit the pool, and then it is placed inside. The sides of vinyl liner pools are constructed from steel. Once erected, they will be permanently supported by concrete. A vinyl liner is then spread over the sides and bottom. These pools are very popular in parts of the country where there are cold winters, as they can be easily drained and covered until the weather warms back up. Swimmers enjoy the smooth surface of the liner, but it can accrue more damage than other pools types.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of fibreglass?

If you're in the market for a pool, you've probably heard a lot of good things about fiberglass swimming pools. Before you buy one, you should be aware of the disadvantages of these pools.Emptying-- One of the first disadvantages of fiberglass swimming pools is that emptying it can cause problems. These pools have to be filled with water at all times to keep pressure on the walls if you want to avoid damaging the pool. If you empty it improperly, ground pressure will cause the fiberglass swimming pool to crack or buckle. If you need the pool to be drained, a professional has to do it to prevent damage.Location-- Another disadvantage of fiberglass swimming pools is that you need to live in a suitable location. These pools are manufactured then brought to your home on the back of a large truck. You have to make sure your property will allow a big truck or crane to bring the pool to your home.Customization-- One of the biggest problems with fiberglass swimming pools is the lack of options. They are prefabricated in different shapes, colors, and sizes. Unfortunately, it is not possible to customize them, so you have to choose from existing models. You are also limited in the size and form that you choose. It has to be small enough to be transported on the back of a truck, so you usually can't get a fiberglass swimming pool that is wider than 14 feet.Sand-- One of the final disadvantages of fiberglass swimming pools is the sand. The pools are usually installed over a bed of sand. The problem with this is that the sand has a tendency to shift after a couple of years. When this happens, the pool will need to be reset.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl swimming pool versus fiberglass pool?

Well first of all there is no such thing as a fiberglass pool. You can have fiberglass walls instead of steel but your pool is still vinyl because you need a liner. These are the usual combinations of inground pools. Sand floor, steel walls, vinyl liner Sand floor, fiberglass walls, vinyl liner Vermiculite floor, steel walls, vinyl liner Vermiculite floor, fiberglass walls, vinyl liner Concrete floor, steel walls, vinyl liner Concrete floor, fiberglass walls, vinyl liner Concrete floor, concrete walls, no liner Concrete pools have to be painted with epoxy paint or if you want tile installed then usually you plaster over the concrete. Now a days 3 and 4 are the most common inground installs. 1 and 2 are usually pools that are 30 + years old although you can still have them done that way. In South Alabama the cost of a 20 *40 vinyl pool will cost around 18 to 22 thousand

What are the advantages or disadvantages of gunite pools vs fiberglass pools?

I am researching the same question and this is what I have found so far: having a "freeze line" is not a good condition for fiberglass pools. Fiberglass pools are cheaper to install and use less chemicals to maintain. I was told the chemicals also do less damage to fiberglass, if any?, than to gunite pools. Fiberglass pools must be filled at all times to avoid "popping up". The only thing that still has me leaning towards gunite is a custom pool shape we have in mind. Hope this helps. I am also trying to decide between fibergalss and gunite. I have been told (by a gunite dealer) that there is a problem with staining in fiberglass pools. Besides a low water level, what else might cause a fiberglass pool to pop up?

What element is most used as the solution in swimming pools?

Hey, In most pools it is chlorine, but newer pools have been known to be use different chemicals.

Do fiberglass pools break in the winter ?

No, most I have seen survive through the winter unharmed. If draining the pool is not acceptable (as often is the case) then an insulated pool cover will likely be needed to help prevent damage in the event of a sudden drop in temperature.

How can you stop the sides of your fiberglass pool from being chalky?

For most fiberglass swimming pools, it means that the pool is at least eighteen years old and is in need of new gel coat. All things fiberglass have a finish coat of gel coat. Because swimming pools must contend with harsh chemicals, the swimming pool gel coat does not last forever. The longevity of the gel coat depends upon two factors: 1) the pool manufacturer, and 2) proper maintenance. There is a huge difference between manufacturers. Gel coat replacement ranges from 27 years at the top, to as low as 4 years, or less, at the bottom of the list. But the average for most fiberglass swimming pools is around 20 years. Nevertheless, chalking always means that the nonporous gel coat has become porous and needs to be replaced with new swimming pool gel coat as soon as possible.
