Princess Peach ate a peach as her first food... that's why they called her Peach.
Princess Peach has had a few name changes since she was first invented. She was first called Princess Toadstool by the english. In Japan she was refered to as Peach. Eventually the two made the name Princess Peach Toadstool, but now she is just called Princess Peach.
