In aviation any aircraft that the president boards instantly assumes the call-sign Air Force or Marine or Navy or Coast Guard or Army One depending on which branch of the military owns the aircraft he is on. When George Bush landed on the aircraft carrier and declared "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq, the plane he was on carried the designation "Navy One" because it was a Navy jet he was riding in. This carries over to the vice-president as well where the call-sign becomes "Air Force or Marine or Navy or Coast Guard or Army Two.
This is done to eliminate any confusion with air traffic control as to the importance of the flight, Airforce one and two are automatically given priority over all other flights except in cases of emergency and usually all air traffic is temporarily restricted in any area where airforce one or two are operating.
