There are quite a few deficiency diseases. Scurvy is caused by a vitamin C deficiency, Rickets is caused by a vitamin D deficiency, and Paresthesia is the from the lack of vitamin B5.
Vitamin E deficiency is a very rare problem that results in damage to nerves. When vitamin E deficiency does occur, it strikes people with diseases that prevent the absorption of dietary fats and fat-soluble nutrients
Rickets in children and osteomalacia are examples of deficiency diseases due to vitamin deficiency. Scurvy is an example of vitamin C deficiency. Beriberi is an example of vitamin B one deficiency. (Both, wet beriberi and dry beriberi.) Pellagra is an example of Niacin deficiency. Anemia is caused by deficiency of vitamin B 12 and Folic acid. Burning feet syndrome is caused by the deficiency of Pantothenic acid. Night blindness is caused by the deficiency of vitamin A. Kwashiorkor and marasmus are caused by deficiency of proteins and food, respectively. Poverty is caused by deficiency of kindness. Inequality is caused by deficiency of compassion.
The deficiency of vitamin E is very rare. But still it may cause haemolytic anaemia.
Insufficient quantities of specific minor nutrients (e.g. vitamins, minerals) in the diet cause deficiency diseases. Each deficiency disease is associated with one specific nutrient (e.g. scurvy with vitamin C, rickets with vitamin D) as its cause.
The most common are:Beriberi, the deficiency of Vitamin B1 (thiamin);Pellagra, the deficiency of Vitamin B3 (niacin);Pernicious anemia, the deficiency of Vitamin B12 (folate);Scurvy, caused by the deficiency of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid);Rickets, the deficency of Vitamin D (calciferol)
A deficiency is a lack or shortage, therefore deficiency diseases are caused by a lack or shortage of necessary nutrients in the body. One example is scurvy, a disease associated with pirates that occurs when an individual suffers from a vitamin C deficiency.
Lack_Of_Food">Lack Of FoodI forgot but it has the word nutrients in it or something. I learned about it in Social Studies in 7th grade.Malnutrition
Deficiency in: Vitamin A - Nightblindness and Xeropthalmia Vitamin B - Beri-beri Vitamin C - Scurvy Vitamin D - Rickets
No other direct diseases and symptoms apart from the ones of Scurvy are proven to be caused by Vitamin C deficiency. There are researches though suggesting general higher mortality between people who have lower intake of vitamin C. Vitamin C also decreases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Beriberi is caused by thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency Goitre can be caused by iodine deficiency - although there are other potential causes. Scurvy is caused by vitamin C deficiency Night blindness (Nyctalopia) can have many different causes - but one cause is vitamin A deficiency.
