Haku is a River Spirit that can turn in to a dragon. He is forced to work for Ubaba, an evil witch in a bath house in the spirit world. Sen (real name Chihiro) ends up in the bath house under the power of Ubaba, and she has to work to save her parents' lives. Sen and Haku met once before when Sen was a little girl. She dropped her shoe into a river and when she tried to get it out, she fell in, but the river carried her back to safety. When they meet again, they become good friends and fall in love when Sen helps him remember his name after Ubaba stole it from him.
