There isn't a square in front of Buckingham Palace. There is a circular area with the Queen Victoria Memorial in the centre. The area immediately surrounding the memorial is Memorial Gardens with Spur Road, Constitution Hill, Buckingham Gate and The Mall running off it.
No square lies directly in front of Westminster Palace. The cemetery housing the famous Poets Corner occupies that space. However, the square adjacent to it is know as Parliment Square.

The royal residence of Buckingham Palace in London was named after the Duke of Buckingham. The British Queen now lives there. The original building on the site was Buckingham House which was named after its owner, the Duke of Buckingham. When royalty acquired the house, substantial additions and alterations were made to the building and it was renamed Buckingham Palace.
