The complex of buildings was called the World Trade Center. It consisted of the Twin Towers (World Trade Center 1, aka the North Tower, and World Trade Center 2, aka the South Tower) as well as five smaller buildings (World Trade Center 3 through 7), and a plaza with a fountain, some tables and chairs, and trees planted all over.

Two of the planes hit the twin towers and that was the site of the worst damage. The reason it happened is because bin laden was an extremist and thought that anyone who wasn't Muslim should be killed.
