After Solomon, the nation of Israel split in two. Solomon's son, Rehoboam, ruled over the two tribes of Judah and Benjamin(1 Kings 11:43), and Jeroboam ruled over the remaining ten tribes.
The King of Israel after King David was King Solomon. He was the son of King David and his mother's name was Bathsheba. King Solomon's name as a child was known as Jedidiah. In a dream, King Solomon asked God for wisdom and an understanding heart to distinguish right and wrong. God was pleased and promised him not only the wisdom to judge rightly but also riches, glory and long life as well, if he is faithful. King Solomon decided to build a temple in Jerusalem but God warned him at the time of building the temple. God told King Solomon that , if he and his descendants forsake the covenant, the temple will become a heap of ruins. King Solomon led the people of Israel for 40 years from a union of tribes under King David to subjection and near slavery. The worst of the burdens that the nation of Israel had inherited from King Solomon is IDOLATRY.
The exile recognized that the covenant had been broken not by God but by Kings like Solomon and the most of the ones after him.
King Solomon followed King David. Solomon is especially famous for receiving delegations from all the kings of the Earth. However, the most detail about these delegations was given concerning Queen Sheba whom the Biblical text makes clear was the Queen who sat, ruled and administered (Sheb) Ophir (Auphirah, Afirah, Africa). Since Hatshepsut was the only queen who did rule Africa or "the South" as the Gospel writers named her, or "Egypt and Ethiopia" as Josephus said, we really must conclude that Queen Hatshepsut [meaning The Sign (H'at) of the Sheba (Ruler) of the South (Sut)] was Queen Sheba. Only the Egyptologists' date for Hatshepsut needs to be altered (by 500 years) but the Egyptologists' dates for Egyptian pharaohs are so speculative that the other information available must prevail regarding this conclusion. The official date for Hatshepsut is clearly wrong by 500 years or so. The sign that Hatshepsut left was her temple which is a copy of the temple built by Solomon, Son of David of Israel. In Jerusalem, there is no evidence of Solomon's temple, which King David arranged to be built with the help of Hiram I and II of Tyre. Fortunately, Hatshepsut-Sheba's copy has survived. She built it so that it would evoke echos of Solomon's clause in Song of Solomon 2:14, "Oh my dove, you are in the cleft of the Rock in the Secret Place of the Stairs".
