266 is the Net Horsepower Rating of the 'M' or 'Q' code 1972 351 Cleveland engine. The 'R' code engine was rated at 275 net HP in 1972.

the basic engine 250-ci V6 is rated at 145hp and the 400ci V8 at 170hp
The 1972 Chevy 350 has about 270 horsepower stock. This engine can be modified to put out up to about 800 horsepower.

As long as the engine does not exceed the vessels maximum horsepower rating, it should be fine. The age of the motor, other than the condition of it, would not be a factor. The engine shaft length on the 115 is standard 20 in.
