Most likely it is. I have had several neutral safety switch issues before, and it sounds like what happened to me. If you put it in reverse do the reverse lights light up? If not that is also a safety switch problem.
Neutral switch
The lower one (sits sideways) is the neutral safety/reverse light switch. The upper one (points down) is for the overdrive and torque converter clutch solenoids. The lower one (sits sideways) is the neutral safety/reverse light switch. If it's a newer model car it could be neutral safety switch or torque convert lock out switch. Is your check engine light on?
Yes.
The fuse panel on the Virago is under the instrument light cluster that surrounds the ignition switch where the neutral indicator light is located.
the indicator will be the pale colors of green :)
First of all, the car must be in neutral in order for this switch to do anything; not park, neutral! Now that it's in neutral, if it's strait up the transmission is in high. At the 90 degree position, it's in low. Low is for super torque and super slow and powerful. Hi is for driving on the road.
neutral safety switch will stop vehicle from starting in all gears except park and neutral.
